Returning to Seattle always feels like coming home — and this time, it was for something truly special. I had the absolute privilege of flying in from Cape Town, South Africa, to photograph Caitlin & Morningstar’s destination wedding in the heart of downtown Seattle, WA
Years ago, I photographed Caitlin’s younger sister’s wedding in Capitol Hill, so when Caitlin reached out to ask if I’d capture her day, I was honoured. There’s something significant about photographing another milestone for the same family — and doing it in one of my all-time favourite cities made it even more memorable.
Their wedding was held at the historic Rainier Club — a venue full of old-world charm and timeless character. The day before the wedding, friends and family gathered for a relaxed and joyful rehearsal, ending off the evening with slices of pizza from a cosy local pizzeria (because who doesn’t love a low-key carb-loading session before the big day?)
On the wedding day itself, downtown Seattle was alive. A grand city parade moved through the streets, adding a burst of energy and celebration to the already electric atmosphere. The contrast between the Rainier Club’s refined elegance and the vibrant, colourful chaos outside made for an unforgettable experience. LOVE that the newlyweds just took a moment after the ceremony to have a drink together and just let everything sink in, highly recommend this…let your photographer tag along as well now ok 😉
Caitlin & Morningstar’s wedding was filled with warmth, laughter, and deep connection — and capturing it reminded me exactly why I do what I do. Seattle holds such a special place in my heart, and having the chance to return to photograph another incredible love story is something I’ll never forget.
